The EU agency in charge of information security, (Enisa), has expressed its concern vis-à-vis social networks. It calls for “establishing rules at European level to put photos online.” The EU legislation should be extended to cover also the publication and online photos without the consent of users,” said one of its representatives, Ronald De Bruin. “The network is bigger than what you do want,” he said, referring to a risk of “hangover digital” to discover the breadth of information revealed involuntarily. The Enisa which has a consultative role had already raised this issue at the TERENA Networking Conference 2008, mid-May in Belgium. The online social networks are indeed also in the side of the Article 29 Committee, which brings together the European data protection as the French CNIL.
