On Top of the World: Himalayan Travels

Overall RatingNo Ratings
In recognition of yet another courageous (some would say crazy in view of last year's disaster) attempt to reach the summit of the world's tallest mountain, Mt. Everest, today's travel guide focuses on travel to the Himalayas. Before starting at NetGuide Travel, each member of the travel staff was asked to visit the Himalayas. So it is with some authority that we can say that the scenery is truly spectacular. But don't take our word for it, check out the photos. The most visited country in the Himalayan region is Nepal. Of

the thousands of visitors to Nepal each year, the majority come to trek and take advantage of the outrageous scenery and friendly people. But there are many other reasons to visit this surprisingly diverse country, and the Nepal Home Page can tell you about them all. India, Pakistan, Burma, Tibet and Bhutan are also popular countries from which to visit the Himalayas. A valuable resource containing travelogues, links to travel agents and every other conceivable bit of info for travelers to the Himalayas (or any other part of the world) is the Rec.Travel Library. There are also many travel agents specializing in travel to the region, just waiting for you to click on them. However, let us not forget the reason we decided to talk about the big mountains of Asia, and take a moment to reflect on the lives lost, at one mountaineering enthusiast's 1996 Everest Memorial Page. The complete story can be found at Outside Magazine Online. Be sure and follow this year's attempt at the peak online with Nova.
