I Tunes Music Store, Skype, Google Earth, Windows Live Messenger … The association of software and an online service has become among the general public and Microsoft now intends to decline the logic of “software + service” in the business world. While acknowledging work on online versions of Word, Excel or Powerpoint, the priority of the Redmond company is completing its current office software with software servers such as Exchange (email), SharePoint (collaboration), Communications (Instant Messaging and VoIP), Live Meeting (video conferencing) and Dynamics CRM (customer relationship), now available in version Online’s, directly on Microsoft’s servers. Based on the new platform “Microsoft Online Services” to accommodate all applications from the publisher, the tender for the moment consists of a suite comprising all of these tools of communication or collaboration, for about fifteen dollars a month. Individuals or TPE may nevertheless have each of these applications in isolation, with a billing starting at $ 2 per month per user for Basque version of Exchange, for example. Without yielding to the mode of Seas (software as a service) used particularly by Google for its own office suite, the new platform Microsoft should realize its vision “S + S”. A vision that Microsoft also intends to involve thousands of partners, integrators and other VARs, which will also receive a commission of 6% per year on sales to their own customers.
