Computing, software
Microsoft's Windows 98 may be on the horizon, but most of us are still toiling away with previous incarnations of the software giant's programs. You may have had
Microsoft's Office 97 office suite for months or maybe you just bought it last week. Regardless, there is always a new shortcut or advanced trick to be learned to make life with your computer easier.
Of course, you could always turn to Microsoft's glossy
Auto Demo for a demonstration and the company line on the product suite. But independent advice can sometimes be more useful.
CNET's
Office 97 Survival Guide is chock full of goodies. You can read up on the latest Office 97
news or download dozens of shareware utilities, such as the
File Conversion Wizard, which will enable you to convert other file formats to Excel file format in a single step.
WinFiles has hundreds of Windows tips and tricks, including many that are relevant to Office 97, such as how to translate numbers to words in Microsoft Excel, how to "quick close" out of all programs and how to truncate long file names.
If you've run into any bugs while working with Office 97, you may want to check out
Windows magazine's list of
bug fixes for the product suite. In addition, the site has a massive Windows tips database with plenty of useful shortcuts for
Office 97.
