A Byte of Rice: Online Haunts for Anne Rice Fans

Overall RatingNo Ratings

Never mind the irony inherent in reading books about vampires while happily basking in the sun at Seal Beach; millions of people still depend on horror author Anne Rice for their summer reading. And (surprise!) she's attracted quite a coven on the Web as well. So before you toss your copy of Servant of the Bones into your cooler and head for the coast, try a bit of surfing online.

The Official Anne Rice Home Page is a great place to start; you'll find news straight from the author

herself, as well as pictures of her home and a number of "Virtual Tours" of New Orleans. Next, skulk on down to Anne Rice: Vittorio the Vampire's Links, The Anne Rice Page of Jeffrey Brecker and Anne Rice Links--they may not have the most imaginative names in the world, but they're all quick-and-easy guides to the Queen of Darkness's online tributes. Some of the more notable fan sites: Adorned in Velvet (with an excellent collection of Frequently Asked Questions), About Anne Rice (featuring a great collection of Rice quotes), and Anne Rice Novel Photo Gallery (where you'll find graphics of all her book covers). And if you like Rice enough to alter your vacation plans a bit, try A Guide to Anne Rice Pilgrimages--it offers descriptions of the real-life locations used in her various novels.

And if you want the scoop on the granddaddy of all literary vampires, try Dracula's Homepage. Bet you'd never catch him lounging in a beach chair with a pitcher of banana daiquiris!
